When comes the time to plan your kitchen it’s important to think about the best way to keep it functional. Different accessories have been invented to make life easier in your kitchen! We will talk about the various accessories and storage system for kitchen cabinets into four parts : systems for your food pantry, upper cabinet storage systems, bottom cabinet systems and, finally, corner cabinet solutions.
The food pantry
There are a few different types of pantry organization systems. This first one is equipped with a hinged door and retractable drawers for easy access.
There are also pantries with shelving attached to the pull-out door. These can be as slim or as wide as you need.
As with the food pantry, for the upper cabinets there are also several types of accessories for greater functionality.
Sliding shelves can also be found in the upper cabinets attached to the door or to the filler (the piece that fills a narrow empty space). Tablets can be made of metal or wood.
Following the same strategies for the lower cabinets makes a huge difference for accessibility and keeping everything in its place for a clutter-free environment. The retractable shelves are attached to the front panel and are pulled out on an extended sliding support for 100% access to everything in the back. These storage systems can be adapted with accessories for holding spices, oils, utensils, trays and more.
There is more than one way of optimising the dreaded corner kitchen cabinet.
An angled door: Positioning the door at a 45 degree angle allows for a wider opening into the corner cabinet.
With this configuration, you can not only add shelves or drawers but also as a spinning ‘lazy Susan’ such as the one below, aptly named the Twister. They have 2 – 3 rotating shelves allowing perfect accessibility.
The lower corner cabinet
Several options have been developed, making the dreaded lower corner cabinet quite functional.
The angled door: You can install an angled door at a 45 degree angle, allowing greater accessibility and storage room. However, for this configuration you must add fixed standard shelves, also angled at 45 degrees. There are no innovative sliding systems for this set up.
The piano-hinged door: As you can see, with this door, either standard shelves or a rotating shelving system can be installed Having the piano hinge door allows more room for the legs when standing and preparing meals.
Power glide systems
Corner cabinets are often the least organized cabinets in a kitchen but now there are a multitude of solutions, each more functional than the last, such as the ‘Magic Corner’ system.
This system works with a hinged door and allows the entire storage unit to completely slide out for 100% access to everything. There is also a version that is attached to the door and pulls out automatically.
