Upgrading or renovating your kitchen is a challenge, but the rewards in functionality and other positive aspects make the project worth it. We are certainly not lacking in ideas to bring a breath of fresh air to your outdated kitchen. Whether it is a total kitchen make-over or a simple face lift, the following renovations prove that every old kitchen can be modernized and become luminous, bright and welcoming. Here are a few of my kitchen projects with before and after photos…
This renovated kitchen features a magnificent transformation. From dark and old it became a bright, modern, and functional space. A kitchen make-over is the perfect opportunity to de-clutter and purge. If the kitchen still feels small, try removing a couple of upper cabinets to open up the space and make it feel much larger. You should also consider custom cabinets to optimize the awkward corners.
For his super compact condo, my client focused his kitchen face lift mostly on cosmetic improvements. We refaced all of the drawer and cabinet fronts without changing their configuration. We also replaced the floor for a low maintenance but good-looking vinyl, and replaced the counter.
Think of the paint colour, the tiles, the configuration, the lighting, counter and cabinets – this whole arcenal offers endless options for changing the look of your kitchen. If your kitchen is currently a natural wood tone with darker features, consider prioritizing lighter tones such as white, dove gray or linen because they will give the impression of more space and they go a long way in making the room light and bright.
Darker wood adds a warm and rich element to the kitchen and will definitely help your stainless steel appliances to stand out. In the following kitchen, I combined white lacquer upper cabinets with the rich walnut for added personality. We also demolished a wall to lengthen the super tight space.
